The City of McHenry, IL and their $150,000 DUI Budget
Recently, for no reason apparent to anyone in the community, the City of McHenry, IL has decided that they want to spent $150,000 on DUI trials and hearing in McHenry County Illinois. They let go the old prosecutor to whom they paid about $27,000 a year, and hired a new one for about $90,000 a year.
The City of McHenry also has declared that there will be no deals in DUI cases. So I would propose this: Let’s help the City of McHenry spend that budget and take all of their cases to trial. That way we will help them achieve their goals.
I guess I forgot to mention that DUI arrests are down sharply, probably due to loss of federal money for DUI enforcement among other things. The City of McHenry has picked a very curious time to decide to ramp up their DUI spending.
